“Even as the archer loves the arrow that flies, so too he loves the bow that remains constant in his hands.”

Ancient Proverb

Long Eaton Field Archers are a Field Archery Club that shoots in a wood near Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire.

We run events for our club members, visiting clubs, beginners and experienced archers alike.

Whether you are serious about winning competitions or just want to shoot for fun, LEFA would be pleased to welcome you.

WHAT IS FIELD ARCHERY?

Field archery involves shooting at targets over varying unmarked distances, often in woodland and rough terrain (rarely in a field). The archers follow a course, shooting at typically 28 to 36 targets in sequence, each from one or more positions depending on the rules in operation. The courselayer will try to fool the archer into mis-judging the distance by subtle use of dead ground or by using natural obstacles!

A variety of bow styles may be used (more information here).

We shoot at life-size 3D animal targets or paper pictures of animals or birds.

Field archery provides exercise, builds stamina and requires self-control. But above all it’s fun for all the family!
